The Thomas Jefferson Health District (TJHD) has changed its name to Blue Ridge Health District! This change reflects the District’s commitment to ensuring that public health services are inclusive and welcoming to all of the communities served. "Blue Ridge Health District" also aligns with other health districts in Virginia which are predominately named after regional geography.
“Changing our name is symbolic of the deeper work we are doing as an organization to create an inclusive, equitable environment for our staff and clients and to acknowledge and address the impact of racism on health,” said Dr. Denise Bonds, BRHD District Director. “Our mission is to ensure the health and wellbeing of all community members and it is critical that our name reflects all of the communities we serve.”

From our friends at Charlottesville Radio Group:
Hello, Greene County Chamber Business Members –
I wanted to remind you about the RADIO marketing opportunity for your business through a grant from the EDA as a benefit to you as a Greene Chamber of Commerce member.
If you choose to participate, you will be included in over 150 mentions spread throughout our 6 stations. The main campaign is on 92.7, Cville Country and 97.5, 3WV, but messages will run across our other stations as well. I am currently filling up the calendar for 4 members to participate per month. As you may be aware, this is set up for all the Chamber members to share, so the intention is for you to run this for one month and then another member will take advantage of the program after you. As a member, you would receive approximately 35-40 words for your business. I will be happy to help you craft that message.
Your cost is ONLY $91 and I will send you an invoice that you will then pay to the Chamber. Once the one month campaign is over, if you wanted to look into an on-going campaign on our stations, I or one of my colleagues would be happy to assist you.
Please let me know if you would like additional information, or if you would like to go ahead and reserve your space NOW for a month between now and May.
RESERVE YOUR SPACE NOW!
Best wishes for the holidays and the New Year,
Susan Terwilleger

Mr. Hewa spoke before the Board of Supervisors last month. We covered a lot but one of the things I personally asked him to do is to help Greene County solve its rural broadband issue. We know REC can't do it all but I asked that they be "part of the solution." He received those comments very well and made a good first impression on the Board.

REC Names New Vice President of Engineering, Operations and Power Supply -
John Arp, P.E. has been promoted to Rappahannock Electric Cooperative’s (REC) executive leadership team as Vice President of Engineering, Operations and Power Supply. In this role, he will oversee system planning, engineering and technical services, ensuring the successful implementation of the Cooperative's strategic plan.
“Mr. Arp is a talented and accomplished engineer who brings more than 21 years of diverse utility, engineering and leadership experience,” said John Hewa, President and CEO. “His expertise in engineering, design, and operations and construction will be a strong addition to REC’s executive team.”

In his most recent positon, Arp has promoted REC’s safety-first culture and service to members. During his time at REC, Arp has led several system-wide projects:
· A multi-year, high-value project that improved circuit efficiency and reduced operating costs;
· Developed distribution and sub-transmission automation schemes that have improved reliability for members;
· Worked with industry experts to design and implement a customized system-wide over-voltage protection scheme.
Arp holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Virginia and Pennsylvania. Press Release & More Information -
It is with great pleasure that we announce that Stanardsville's annual Christmas celebration will continue this year—albeit in a modified manner. The Red, White, Blue 'n Greene County Christmas Cruise Thru Light Display will take place on December 12th starting at 5:30 PM on Monroe Drive at the Greene County school complex.
We ask your continued support by sharing this free, family-friendly event on your community calendars and sharing it with your members and viewership. We also hope that you will consider placing a light display, float, or other parade entry into the lineup as we seek to promote local charities, businesses and service organizations. Please also encourage any individuals that you know whom may have large Christmas light displays to consider entering the event as we hope to leave a strong impression on the children who attend.
We would like to thank Dr. Whitmarsh and the Greene County School System for allowing us use of their parking lot to hold this event. We would also like to thank the Thomas Jefferson Health Department for reviewing and approving our plans to insure that our guests might remain safe and still enjoy a taste of normalcy this holiday season.
Please contact me should you have any questions or concerns.
With gratitude and sincerest wishes for your safe and happy holiday season,
Michael Payne
