Parade of Lights Volunteers Needed!
We are starting to put together plans and efforts for the 2010 Parade of Lights, surely to be our very best so far. To help make this possible,
we are putting out the call for our Chamber members to help any way they can. This can of course be an entry in the parade, but we need a LOT of help
with putting everything together and keeping it moving along smoothly. We are specifically looking for assistance in the following (4) areas:
- Volunteer to contact the various authorities to secure permission for the various aspects of the parade. This is somewhat fundamental, but critical none-the-less. Additional responsibilities would include:
a. Securing for the Chamber the umbrella insurance policy. (Somewhat renewing the policy we have obtained each year. Providing the agency the necessary information to issue coverage).
b. Seeing that signs are placed on the various streets alerting traffic of the upcoming parade and/or road closure. The volunteer is encouraged to reach out to additional Chamber Members to help accomplish this, and provide others the opportunity to participate.
c. NOTE- Detailed instructions will be provided by the Chamber Member that has addressed this the past four years.
- Volunteer to accept the responsibility to put up and take down the street banner on Main Street. NOTE- Detailed instructions will be provided by the Chamber Member that has addressed this the past four years.
- Volunteer to accept the responsibility to put out and pick up the luminaries. This can be a great project for a youth group or scout group that is not for some reason participating in the parade itself. NOTE- Detailed instructions will be provided by the Chamber Member that has addressed this the past four years.
- Volunteer to accept the responsibility to rent the search light from Harrisonburg, pick up the unit, run it and return it.
If you, or anyone you know can lend a hand with any of the above tasks, please send us an email to let us know!
